Pineapple Mosaic

I’ve been asked by a friend’s daughter to make a simple mosaic – a pineapple with a white background on a circular backing.

I’ve used white iridised tiles around the border, venetian glass tiles for the background,  glass gems for the border of the pineapple, and stained glass to fill in the pineapple and to make the leaves. I’ve yet to cut the leaves, but happy with the colours in the stained glass pieces I’ve chosen.

My plan is for white grout apart from the pineapple which I’d like to do a darker yellow. We’ll see how it goes!

Now ready to be grouted. I changed the green gems – decided they needed to be darker.

December 7 – finished! Did require grouting again as I’d started cleaning off too quickly and wiped too much grout from between some tiles.
