My Name is Death

Have we been introduced?
My name is Death.
Don’t mistake me for Dying,
We’re not anything alike.

I’m not cruel or prolonged,
People misunderstand.
I’m quick and compassionate,
Momentary, documented in time.

I take away your fears.
My white light will fill you.
Peace will envelope you,
Like none you’ve felt before.

You’ll have someone waiting,
I’ll make sure of that.
You’ll rejoice at your reunion,
And you’ll never die alone.

I know why I not welcome
Amongst your family and friends.
I make things pretty miserable
When my presence has been felt.

I’m sorry for the grief that’s caused.
See how strong love is!
But know your grief is just your own,
As peace holds the one you mourn.

    1. Thanks Rory. I wasn’t sure the reaction it’d get as it is a sensitive topic, but those were my thoughts late last night as I’m still processing death – losing my friend, how it all happened, and my past near death experience which gives me peace that my friend is okay.
