Call out for a blended family: “How our family works” video series

We’re looking for a blended family (aka a step-family) with teenage kids (between 13 – 18 years) to participate in a video for

The video would be part of a whole suite of content that we’re currently making for our site called ‘How our family works’.

The ‘How our family works’ series is a response to recent research with young people across Australia. It aims to acknowledge the wide variety of relationships inherent within a ‘family’ and to embrace and champion the differences and the commonalities across different familial settings. This, we hope, will help all young people, regardless of their family structure, feel less alone and see their perspective echoed in others.

Each family member participating will receive a $50 gift voucher as a thank you.

DETAILS: The shoot itself would be pretty simple. We’d come to you and shoot at your house, with the whole thing probably taking just over two hours.

The questions we’d be asking are all quite general – things like:
– Who’s in your family?
– What’s the best thing about your family?
– What are some of the challenges that your family faces?
– What are your family rituals?
– What do you do when you spend time together?

ReachOut is Australia’s leading online mental health organisation for young people and their parents. Our practical support, tools and tips help young people get through anything from everyday issues to tough times – and the information we offer parents makes it easier for them to help their teenagers, too.

The content would live on the website and on our social channels as well.

Please email: with some of your details – your location, family make-up (names and ages and relationships) and I’ll be in touch.
